My musical career started age 7, when I first started playing the drums on my elder brother’s left handed kit. Fast forward 20 years, and I have built up much varied experience; playing with bands in well-known venues, recording at some of the UK's finest studios, and writing for West End Musical Directors. A life-long love of film and television inspired my departure from ‘band work’, into writing for picture.
I consider the work of John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, George Fenton, Joe Hisaishi, Alan Silvestri, and Steve Jablonsky (I could go on…) as major cinematic influences. I am also inspired by Yukihiro Takahashi, John Grant and A Tribe Called Quest: as more contemporary influences, they challenge my thinking and approach to the construction of my work. I am forging my own path in composing; building from a strong rhythmic foundation, blending a rich orchestral palette with modern synths and soundscapes to create a sound very much my own.
Josh created two great tracks for the latest series of Morph. As is often the way we had precious little time but Josh came up trumps getting under the skin of the project quickly and delivering music that fitted the films perfectly.
Working with Josh has been fantastic. He has been passionate about the project from start to finish and has captured the essence of every scene perfectly. Josh’s music really pulled this entire film together and I couldn’t be happier with the end result!
I approached Josh to develop a custom score for a pitch video for an upcoming documentary project. Josh worked quickly to produce a piece that perfectly matched the images in tone, whilst also bringing something new and creative to the final product. He was great to work with and happy to make amendments on my direction. I am very happy with the final result and feel the music adds a dimension to the short piece in a way that only a custom score could.
